The Berlin Metro system will bring you to most of the sights and attractions in the city. The subway system is comprehensive (U-Bahn), and in addition the railway (S-Bahn), trams and busses give you the opportunity to reach places the Metro does not.

Berlin is divided into 3 zones. Zone A includes all of the S-Bahn stops, zone B covers the rest of Berlin city and zone C the surrounding areas. You can buy tickets for AB, BC or ABC. You can buy day passes and 7-days passes if you expect to use the metro much. It is also possible for tourists to buy the "The Berlin WelcomeCard" which gives free access to all public transport in Berlin for 48 or 72 hours.
