Brandenburg Gate on Pariser Platz in Berlin is one of the sights that is amendatory to see when visiting Berlin for the first time. Brandeburg Gate has been an important German historical monument of defeats and victories, but the gate is today a symbol of the construction of the Berlin Wall and a separated Berlin.

Most important landmark in Berlin
Brandenburg Gate is perhaps the most important landmark in Berlin, and is today in the centre of many great celebrations like the reunification of Germany and new year eve.

Once again a part of Pariser Platz
Brandenburg Gate is today once again part of Pariser Platz, which earlier was regarded as one of the finer addresses in Berlin. Today you find banks, hotels and embassies surrounding the square.

King Frederick 11 of Prussia
The gate was originally commissioned by King Frederich II of Prussia. The gate was built in the years 1788-1791 by Carl Gotthard Langhans who got much of his inspiration from Athens Acropolis. The Brandenburg Gate was built to give the street "Unter den Linden" a dignified closure in the western direction.
