Lustgarten is located on the museum island - Museumsinsel - in Berlin. The park originally belonged to the Berliner Stadtschloss (Berlin City Palace), and has through history been subject to change on several occasions. Lustgarten has among other occupations been used to both a kitchen garden and parade ground. In more recent years Lustgarten has been a public park popularly use as a place of rallies and demonstrations..

Lustgarten was in the 16th century developed as a kitchen garden for the Berliner Stadtschloss. The destructions as a result of the Thirty years war made all of Berlin subject for massive changes. Lustgarten became a garden with statues and fountains. During the time to follow the park has been changed and removed on several occasions.

Lustgarten today
During the reign of Hitler Lustgarten was paved over to better serve the purpose of a place for mass rallies. After the reunion of Germany in 1991 it became an increasing public pressure to get the garden back, and in 1998 the work on restoring Lustgarten started, and today the park once again appears as a beautiful garden with fountains at the center of Berlin.
